Lesson 1: Online Course Outline

Overview

In this unit, you will work with your groups to develop your course outlines. For Unit 3, you have almost five weeks. Allot yourselves two weeks per lesson so you are not cramming everything into the last week.

Standards, Benchmarks, and Learning Objectives

In this Unit, we're indirectly addressing almost all of the SREB Standards for Quality Online Teaching and Quality Online Courses simultaneously simply by uncovering and discussing our assumptions about online teaching and online courses. Please continue to review the SREB Standards for Quality Online Teaching and Quality Online Courses which are listed after lesson 2 in this course content module.

To help you meet those standards, we must define a set of specific learning objectives. So, for this lesson, you will:

  • Utilize socio-constructivist acivities and synthesize your learning experiences by creating an online course outline.
  • Analyze other online course outlines to support and promote individual and group understanding of instructional design.
